Art Exhibits

Tohono Chul Park’s exhibits are visual stories that link nature, culture and arts of the Southwest.  Each time people step into the galleries, we want them to learn something new and get excited. Working with artists living in our community and region, we display vibrant works of art to launch new exhibit themes every six to eight weeks.  Whether it’s a row of larger than life ants made out of railroad spikes crawling across the walls in the “Artful Insects” show, a stunning display of contemporary Navajo weavings made from wool, alpaca and silk, a show-stopping Community Altar during Day of the Dead, or a grouping of large-scale color photographs of Mission San Xavier del Bac, each exhibit relishes the creative spark of artists and celebrates this unique and diverse place.

The setting for the exhibits is a cozy environment that feels just like home.  In fact, it is a former home with a distinctive desert style. It has plastered walls of thick, earthy adobe bricks, rustic wooden corbels and vigas spanning twelve-foot ceilings, and scored concrete floors.  There’s even a fireplace.  Large picture windows frame scenic views of the lush desert, endless skies and the nearby towering Catalina Mountains.

It’s a great backdrop for artworks with themes that explore the Southwest – the fascinating people and their traditions, historic places and folklore, and the many plants, insects, birds, animals, and wonders of the desert itself.

We want the exhibits to be fun and intriguing and we welcome you to join us in the experience. Galleries in the Exhibit House are open 9:00am – 5:00pm daily.  Closed New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
